A passport is a globally recognized travel document that permits citizens of one country entry to another country for specified purposes depending on its validity.
In general, passports usually have a validity period of ten (10) years but at times may require renewal in instances whereby it is expiring, has expired or its pages have been exhausted.
For example, Indian residents in Kenya are advised to apply for passport renewal one year prior to its expiry.
In the event that expiry lapses for more than a year before renewal application, an applicant is required to swear an affidavit to be attested/signed in front of the Consular officer at HCI Nairobi to renounce adoption of any other nationality or possession of any other travel documents of any description.
