[Solved] ‘You Have Not Applied For Any Loan’ Error In Helb Portal Despite Prior Successful Application

Applying for Helb funding can prove to be a daunting task especially for first time applicants who may not be used to the application process in terms of requirements and the procedure involved in submitting a successful application.

At times, 2nd or subsequent applicants may also fall victim to the unpredictable nature of the Helb process despite prior successful experiences within the same platform.

Regardless, the overall loan application procedure for first time applicants in both undergraduate and TVET loans remains the same as it involves availing the below requirements and supporting documents necessary for uploading within the platform.

  1. Valid email address & phone number
  2. KCPE and KCSE index numbers and year of examination
  3. Copy of national ID
  4. Passport size photo
  5. Birth certificate
  6. College/University admission letter
  7. Parents’ national ID number & phone number (Death certificate if any of your parent is deceased)
  8. Two guarantors’ national ID & phone number
  9. Copy of the sponsorship letter if you were sponsored in Secondary school.

Once in possession of the above requirements, the loan application process is outlined via the below steps;

  1. Registration of an account via the Helb Student Portal either using your national ID number/KCSE index number.
  2. Email activation of the created account via activation link sent to your email address.
  3. Login and subsequent account verification via SMS Code sent to your phone number.
  4. Completion of profile information and bio-data.
  5. Personal data collection consent by selecting checkbox to agree with terms of use.
  6. Completion of personal details.
  7. Submission of scholarship/loan request.
  8. Data processing consent by accepting the loan terms and conditions.
  9. Update of guarantor details.
  10. Completion of loan payment information i.e Bank or mobile payment
  11. Submission of loan application.
  12. Wait for confirmation email regarding application.

Despite the completion of the above procedure, there are instances whereby there may be an error stating that ‘You Have Not Applied For Any Loan’ as shown below.

Although frustrating as it may be, you do not have to go through the above re-application process especially if you received a confirmation on your application via email.

All you have to do is exercise PATIENCE for at least one week for the portal to update itself to reflect your loan application status.
