In general, a single NHIF cover caters for one spouse and dependants restricted to a nuclear family. Such dependants may include children acquired through birth or adoption

To add a child to NHIF cover, simply visit any of the NHIF offices or huduma centres available countrywide and provide the below documents.

Copy of your national ID

Copy of birth notification for children above 6 months

Copy of birth certificate for children between 1-5 months

For adopted children, proof of legal guardianship/letter of adoption from children’s department is required
