As a general rule, the deadline for NHIF remittances is usually done before the 9th day of each month failure to which penalties accrue.

Prolonged non-payments for upto 12 months for the self-employed may result in the deactivation of one’s NHIF account thereby preventing one from accessing the NHIF services.

Fortunately, members have an option to reactivate NHIF by simply paying Kes1,500 then waiting for 60 days for reactivation.

NHIF payments for the self employed are made via M-Pesa using the below details;

NHIF Paybill number: 200222
Account number: ID number
