TVET loans for first time applicants

TVET loans are among the category of loan products provided by the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). Such loans are usually reserved for applicants pursuing certificate, diploma and higher diploma courses in select public universities, colleges, polytechnical and approved TVET colleges under the ministry of education.

How To Apply TVET Loan For First Time Applicants

Navigate to the Helb student portal and login to your account (If you do not have an account, you can follow this tutorial to create one)

Once logged in, click on ‘Loan Application’ followed by ‘Certificate’ or ‘Diploma’ and select the 2021/2022 application form.

Interact with the articles and videos as well as partake on the brief online course to gain knowledge on financial literacy.

Proceed and fill in the loan application form with the required details.

Upon completion, print two copies of the form and ensure that the signatures and stamps of the relevant authorities are appended.

Attach the relevant verification documents such as;

  • Copy of admission letter
  • Copy of national ID
  • KCSE result slip
  • Colored passport photo
  • Copy of parents ID (if orphan, attach death certificate)
  • Copy of guarantor’s ID
  • Copy of bank ATM card

Upon completion of the above, avail one copy of the duly filled TVET application form to the select Huduma centres with a Helb desk or Helb offices at Anniversary Towers (Mezzanine) and retain the second copy.
