How To Register For NTSA Citizen Self Service Portal
In-order to use the services available on the TIMS portal, you will need to first register and create an account. To do so, follow the below steps.
Navigate to the TIMS online portal
Click on ‘Register’ or ‘Register Now’ to begin the registration process.
Depending on the applicant type, there are various options to choose from including: Individuals which requires submission of ID serial number, dealer/financial institution/ company and driving school which require submission of KRA Pin
Therefore if applying as an individual, input your ID serial number (located at the top left of national ID card) and click on ‘Verify’
If the above number is correct, an additional field will appear requiring you to enter your mother’s maiden name and once again click ‘Verify’
If the above name is also accurate, verification of your KRA Pin will also be required. Once done, click ‘Next’ to proceed to the information stage.
This stage requires your full names, gender, date of birth, occupation and mobile phone number. The first three details are automatically populated by the system thereby leaving manual submission of your occupation and mobile number.
Enter your phone number and request for an authorization code that will be used to reveal extra fields such as email address, security question, county & sub-county of birth, physical address, box number, code, town, postal address and postal code.
Once the above have been completed and submitted, you will receive a notification stating that you have successfully registered your account.
How To Apply For Smart DL
Proceed and login to your newly created TIMS account by entering your preferred login method, authorization code sent previously via SMS as the password, click ‘Get code’ to receive code via SMS.
In your dashboard, click on the ‘Driving License’ menu to access the ‘Apply for smart DL’ option.
The next page will display your driving license details such as license number and type as well as enable the provision of any amendments in the event that the captured details are incorrect.
If all the above are in order, proceed to make payment of Ksh3,050 and subsequently book for an appointment date with NTSA.
How To Know Whether Your Smart DL Is Ready For Collection
After finalizing with the NTSA, the normal waiting period for receiving the smart driving license is usually 3 weeks whereby you will be notified via SMS. However, there maybe extended delays due to backlog due to the transition.
