Private digital lending services not operated by banks are once again in the spotlight after a recent TV exposé uncovered their ruthless harassment tactics.

Such tactics consist of incessant phone calls and text messages from different numbers to the defaulter as well as the phone contacts with such interactions at times bearing threats and insults from the lenders.

After the damning revelations, a section of the victims have revealed that they have received apologetic SMS texts from lenders regarding the harassment. One of the SMS reads as below

We would like to apologize as Gloratec company (lcash) for the rude calls and messages you and your people have been receiving. As a company, we have failed because we didn’t know what our agents were doing behind our backs but we have taken strict measures by firing a group of agents who were involved and we are really sorry for what you have gone through.

Due to that incident, we are giving 100% waiver on accumulated interest. Just pay the money you borrowed or make a partial payment of Ksh300/500/1000 to activate your account. Paybill No. 4043625, acc phone no.
